Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering
From first year to third year, all students have to take the same courses (both Architecture and Civil Engineering courses). And the courses are mainly arranged to provide basic knowledge of science, engineering and language.
Protect lives and nature, Create 'PLACE OF HAPPINESS'
1. Outline
This department is a combination of architecture and civil engineering. Actually, these two majors are very similar in many ways, but we can differentiate them by object it works with. Architecture focuses directly on where people stay (or live) (house, building, school, hospital, etc.), while civil engineering focuses on infrastructure (road, bridge, powers supply system, dam, etc.) which considered as social foundation.
There are 5 years of study to graduate. Japanese students have to the whole 5 years, while foreign students (e.g. MEXT college students) who enroll from 3rdyear have to take only 3 years to graduate.
2. What to Study
From first year to third year, all students have to take the same courses (both Architecture and Civil Engineering courses). And the courses are mainly arranged to provide basic knowledge of science, engineering and language.
During the summer vacation of 4thyear, students are allowed to take an internship for one or two weeks.e last 2 years. That means, the study in major becomes deeper than before. Then student can choose which courses to take according to their majors. However, there are still a few required courses for all students.

During summer vocation of 4thyear, students are allowed to take an internship for one or two weeks.
In 5th year, courses are shortened, and every student has to do a research on the filed they are interested in. This research is a main criteria for graduation from the college.
3. After Graduation
There are three choices after graduations:
Here we choose Architecture or Civil Engineering after studying the basis of the two. So, if you are in one of those in the following, then this major is quite suit for you.
(2) Continue for bachelor’s degree at university for two years.
(3) Working
4. Message
Here we choose Architecture or Civil Engineering after studying basis of the two. So, if you are in one of those in the following, then this major is quite suit for you.
Those who:
(1) do not understand clearly about the difference between Architecture and Civil Engineering.
(2) are interested in general construction
(3) are interested in Information Technology and construction field.
(4) love architecture.
(5) love Civil Engineering
Simple differences between civil engineering and architecture
Civil Engineering works with bridge, road, dam, environment, public faculties, traffic design, disasters defending system, etc.
Architecture works with building, structural design, aesthetics, city, urbanization, etc.
